Request Bills is the step where you trigger invoice production. Once requested, the platform generates invoices for all eligible customers in the billing run.
Before You Request
- The invoice date must be set on the billing run.
- The pre-billing report must be confirmed as checked.
- You need the appropriate permission to request bills. Some steps in the billing workflow are restricted to managers or expert users.
Billing Run Fields
- Invoice Date — the date shown on produced invoices.
- Cutoff Date — the last date charges apply. Determines which usage and fees are included.
- Due Date — the payment due date printed on invoices. Optional.
- Invoice Message — a message template included on invoices. Select from pre-configured templates.
These fields are locked once billing has been requested.
What Happens When You Request
- The billing run status changes to Requested.
- If the pre-billing report hasn’t run recently, it runs again automatically.
- A notification email is sent to the billing request address.
- Invoice production begins. The status moves to Running while invoices are being created.
- Once complete, the status changes to Complete and the post-billing report runs automatically.
During production, the platform creates an invoice for each billable customer. Empty and low-value invoices are handled according to each customer’s settings — invoices can be skipped, padded to a minimum amount, or have a low-usage fee added.
After production finishes, the billing run shows a progress panel for the remaining steps: checking the post-billing report, emailing bills, and running payment collections.
