Packages
A package is a saved bundle of what you sell: numbers, services, features and one-off charges, with their pricing already set. Applying one to a deal creates the whole lot in a single step, priced for that customer, instead of building the same thing by hand every time.
Packages are curated centrally. By default a manager maintains them and salespeople apply them.
The catalogue
Section titled “The catalogue”Packages lists your active packages with their type, description and item count. Show retired brings back ones you have taken out of use.
Each package page shows its items in a table: what type each one is, what it is attached to, its details, and links to add a feature under it or remove it.
Building a package
Section titled “Building a package”To create one:
- Choose New package.
- Give it a name and description, choose the currency and the package type, and set its display order.
- Save, then add items with Add number, Add service, Add standalone feature and Add one-off charge.
Adding an item opens the full backend form, not a trimmed one, so you can set every pricing field a manager needs.
Duplicate copies a package as a new retired one, which is the safe way to amend a package that is already in use.
The two package types
Section titled “The two package types”Standard packages create or replace whole products. Applying one to a deal adds its numbers and services, then the features under them, then its one-off charges.
Add-on packages attach features and charges to something that already exists - the deal’s customer, one of its numbers, or one of its services - without changing that record. They cannot contain numbers or services.
Applying a package to a deal
Section titled “Applying a package to a deal”From the deal:
- Add package applies a standard package to the deal.
- Apply customer add-on applies an add-on package at customer level.
- On a product row, Apply Package or Replace Package applies one to that record. The label depends on whether the record already carries features.
- On a product row, Apply Add-on attaches an add-on package to it.
What happens: each item is created as a normal pre-sale record tagged to the deal, in order: parents first, then features, then transactions. The deal timeline records a package applied entry listing what happened to each item.
Important: application is best-effort per item. If one item cannot be created, the rest still are, and the timeline entry tells you which failed. Check the deal products panel afterwards.
Things to know
Section titled “Things to know”- A package’s currency limits it: it can only be applied to deals in that currency.
- A retired package stays viewable and keeps its history, but cannot be applied to anything new.
- Packages can carry default usage figures, which crystallise onto the deal when applied and can then be overridden. See Usage and pricing.
- Packages are maintained under CRM Setup, in the Sales group.
