Twilio SMS setup
Use Integrations > Twilio to choose how the platform sends customer SMS.
What you need: Elevated access to integration settings for the relevant dealer scope. To use your own Twilio account, you also need its access keys and sender details.
Choose the sending account
Section titled “Choose the sending account”The person setting up SMS should check which dealer the change will affect.
- Open Integrations > Twilio and select All Dealers (Default) or the relevant dealer.
- Choose the SMS Sending mode.
- Complete your own account details if required, then click Save SMS Setup.
| Mode | What it does |
|---|---|
| Off | Disables SMS sending for the selected scope |
| On - platform SMS service | Uses the platform service, where configured |
| On - own Twilio account | Uses the saved account details for this scope |
| Follow All Dealers setting | Applies the shared setting to this dealer |
Switching modes retains saved account details. Account fields are saved only when you select your own Twilio account.
Configure your own account
Section titled “Configure your own account”Select Ireland (IE1) or United States (US1) under Twilio Region. Use credentials, sender or Messaging Service, and webhook authentication from that region.
The form shows which account and API details to enter. It also shows the saved account’s status callback URL.
Let pending messages finish before changing region, access keys or senders. Their status updates still need the matching account setup.
Blank secret fields keep saved values where the form shows unchanged. Check inherited values when editing a dealer-specific setup.
Remove saved account details
Section titled “Remove saved account details”Switch to Off, the platform service or Follow All Dealers before using Remove Saved Account. Review the selected scope and confirm removal.
This removes the saved details for that dealer or All Dealers. Changing the sending mode alone keeps those details.
Test destinations and templates
Section titled “Test destinations and templates”On a test or demo platform, set Test Destinations under All Dealers. Enter the permitted handset numbers, separated by commas. An empty list stops all outbound SMS.
Manage message bodies under SMS Types. Contact preferences and sending permissions still apply.
To use short links, an administrator must first set up the shortener under the SMS module. Enter its service URL and access key there before switching short links on.
